Can irritation of the nerves on the back side of the skull, above the neck, cause eye pain or sinus pain?

Thank you for your question.
Some headaches are due to vascular changes, some might be classified as cluster headaches, or headaches due to pressure on the greater occipital nerve. Of course, there are other reasons for headaches including bleeding in the brain, trauma, tumors, etc. However, the answer to your question is that pressure on the nerve can cause pain to radiate from the back of the head to the eyes, some describe it as if an ice pick was being pushed in their eyes. Should you be concerned about your headaches please consult your physician or neurologist.
