My facialist said that her husband is rubbing testosterone cream on his chest daily to increase his testosterone level. She said the cream will also make hair grown on his head. Is this true?
Hair loss is caused by the transformation of Testosterone to a compound which makes hair follicles less prone to produce hairs. One of the side effects of using testosterone is loss of hair, decrease in the size of the testicles, mood changes and changes in libido and erections. Testosterone should only be used if the individual is found to have low blood levels of Testosterone (free and total) and the amount of SBG (Sex Binding Globulin). The dangers outweigh the benefits of testosterone therapy unless it is being followed with blood and physical exams. Narcotics and opioids may also decrease erection and ability to father children.
